TAKE ACTION: Urge the Senate to Support Organic and Family-Scale Farms in the Farm Bill

On April 30, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a new Farm Bill. Unfortunately, the bill falls far short for organic farmers. As the National Organic Coalition explains in our analysis, the bill includes a few bright spots, but leaves out many of the key provisions that organic farms and businesses need to thrive.

Beyond organic-specific provisions, the House bill rescinds roughly $1 billion in EQIP conservation funding and fails to restore massive cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that were previously enacted through reconciliation legislation. The bill doubles down on the existing industrial agriculture model while weakening programs tied to nutrition, conservation, beginning and underserved farmers, land access, climate resilience, and regional food systems.

Now is the time to make our voices heard in the Senate. We can secure a stronger Senate Farm Bill that protects and advances organic agriculture, but only if enough people speak up.

USE YOUR VOICE TO TELL THE SENATE TO:

  • Increase funding for the USDA National Organic Program (NOP).

  • Provide meaningful organic certification cost-share support.

  • Invest in organic research to help more farms transition to organic.

  • Help organic farms reach new markets.

  • Protect against organic import fraud.
