Nimble, Determined, and Community Oriented: NOC’s 2025 Year in Review
The National Organic Coalition faced the tumult of 2025 nimble, determined, and community oriented. From standing up rapid response teams and coordinating joint strategies with partner organizations to pivoting from in-person to online events, NOC drew on the strength of our team, coalition members, and the organic community to respond in real time as the political landscape shifted. We end the year proud of how NOC and the entire organic community showed up to defend organic integrity and the people and processes it relies on.
Here are some of the ways NOC and the broader organic community showed up—together—to protect and advance organic integrity in 2025:
Mobilized 1,397 farms, businesses, and organizations in a joint letter urging USDA to preserve NOP staffing. In total, we issued six action alerts, generating more than 3,800 submissions to Congress and the administration—ensuring the organic community knew when and how to speak up for what matters most.
Convened more than 800 farmers, advocates, organizational leaders, and community members to advance organic integrity through nine events. In doing so we strengthened collaboration across the movement and brought NOC’s voice directly to policymakers at USDA.
Provided timely updates through 47 blog posts and 21 newsletters, helping the organic community stay informed and engaged during a challenging year. Our three most read blog posts are a reminder of all that the organic community faced in 2025.
Organized 31 advocates to conduct 64 meetings with Congressional offices and USDA leaders during our D.C. Fly-in, highlighting how funding freezes, contract suspensions, and staff cuts threaten the organic sector.
Delivered NOSB comments under compressed timelines, including urging the National Organic Standards Board to vote no on synthetic compostable products as a feedstock in organic compost.
Responded in real time to organic integrity crises and contributed to several key wins, including:
Continued support for TOPP and Organic Market Development grants.
Restored funding for Organic Certification Cost Share, the Organic Data Initiative, and essential NOP technology platforms.
Secured the reinstatement of Dr. Jenny Tucker as Deputy Administrator of the National Organic Program.
We move into 2026 ready to harness our expertise and political power to defend organic integrity 2026!
