NOC Releases 2023 Annual Report

The NOC 2023 Annual Report summarizes the highlights of NOC’s work in 2023: from policy and advocacy wins, to successful events bringing the organic community together, and thriving partnerships with allies.

We are excited by the progress we made in 2023 to advance organic! We are grateful to all of our supporters, partners, and the greater organic community - it is your support that makes this work possible.

In 2023:

  • We celebrated the one- year anniversary of a major new Organic Transition Initiative at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), which provides more support to organic producers and helps more farmers transition to organic.

  • We cheered the finalization of three massive updates to the organic regulations that we have been pushing USDA to complete for many years. The Organic Livestock and Poultry Standards rule,t he Strengthening Organic Enforcement and Origin of Livestock rules, represent real progress in our efforts to create an organic program that protects people, animal welfare, and the planet and creates a fair marketplace for organic producers.

  • We gathered together in person to collaborate and discuss the future of organic, in Atlanta (GA) and Providence (RI).

  • We stepped into a new role as the convener of national events for participants who are part of USDA’s new Transition to Organic Partnership Program - we are excited to create a space for collaboration and to lift up best practices in our work to create more pathways for farms to participate in organic agriculture.

We invite you to take a deeper dive in this report and learn more about the ways in which the National Organic Coalition brings organic community members together to create change in our food system. We hope you will join us!
