NOC Comments to the National Organic Standards Board

Posted: April 16, 2018

On April 4, National Organic Coalition submitted comments to the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) calling on the Board to continue its work on recommendations that bring clarity and consistency to the organic standards. In particular, NOC urges the Board to continue its work on Excluded Methods and on Field and Greenhouse Container Production, two work agenda items that have been previously approved by the National Organic Program at USDA but have been put on hold for the time being.

NOC also provided in depth comments on strengthening oversight of imports, as well as domestic enforcement, and regarding many petitions and materials currently under consideration by the NOSB. NOC supports the NOSB’s proposal to eliminate the incentive to convert native ecosystems. NOC urges the NOSB to continue its engagement on inspector qualifications, by making further recommendations to the NOP on minimum qualifications, training, and continuing education guidelines for inspectors.

NOC’s full comments are available here.
