Food Safety and Food Safety Regulations has become a serious issue for all producers. From The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) to new meat, egg  and poultry rules, both farmers and eaters need to stay engaged.

NOC Comments to FDA on the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) revised language for proposed rules detailing standards for produce production and for preventative controls.

December 5, 2013: Leafy Greens Marketing Act Defeated!

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agriculture Marketing Services (AMS) announced that it will terminate the National Leafy Greens Marketing Act (NLGMA) in response to the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) that would duplicate efforts in many areas.  USDA’s move is a positive step towards a single federal response to food safety regulation. January 4, 2013: FDA released two major proposed rules as part of its implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act detailing standards for Produce Safety and Preventive Controls for Human Food Production. 120-day Comment Period has been extended beyond the May 16, 2013 deadline.
