The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agriculture Marketing Services (AMS) announced that it will terminate the National Leafy Greens Marketing Act (NLGMA) in response to the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) that would duplicate efforts in many areas. January 4, 2013: FDA released two major proposed rules as part of its implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act detailing standards for Produce Safety and Preventive Controls for Human Food Production. 120-day Comment Period has been extended beyond the May 16, 2013 deadline.
